What is NLP…

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in 1975. They began by developing models based on top communicators of their time. The initial goal was to discover why certain people produced excellence, and then to create models to allow other people to develop similar behaviour and skills. They studied people like Milton Eriksson, Fritz Perls and Virginia Satir, to name but a few. As more people have joined the NLP community, others have continued to contribute and there has been huge development of the field over the years.

From those early models, and the continued development, grew a host of techniques. These are focused on providing a means for rapidly and effectively changing thoughts, behaviours and beliefs that previously limited peoples development and capabilities. These techniques are now commonly known as Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

NLP is fundamentally the process of modelling. It has also provided a set of guiding principles, attitudes and techniques about behaviour in real life, that gives individuals choice; the ability to choose their behaviours and their emotional and physical states of well-being by understanding how their mind works. It enables individuals to remove self-imposed limits. It enables improved performance. NLP explores the relationship between how we think (Neuro), how we communicate both verbally and non-verbally (Linguistic) and our patterns of behaviour and emotional states (Programming).

By beginning the NLP journey, you will have the tools to enhance your communication, quickly build strong relationships with people from all walks of life and help yourself and others. You will have greater command of your interactions and your resources, along with a deeper understanding of yourself and what really makes you tick.
